Grupo Repol launches new PP and PA6 conductive compounds with carbon black. References are Dinaplen® PPC3S15 C-4169 and Dinalon® PA6 B3S20 C-4171. These new products offer high electrical conductivity (R=103Ohm), ideal for use in a wide range of applications: antistatic, dissipative and for direct electrostatic painting.

K 2007 is the setting for the international launch of Dinaplen® PP, the new range of polypropylenes from Grupo Repol. Visitors to the Grupo Repol booth at the biggest European plastics trade fair will also discover first hand the latest developments in polyamides, with samples of various extrusion and injection applications of Dinalon® polyamides around the world. Grupo Repol has plans for new premises for its production plant and offices at Castellón’s industrial estate Camí Fondo. In keeping with the spirit of the company, Grupo Repol wants for its new headquarters a unique building that reflects the company’s essence as a modern and technologically advanced plastic materials manufacturer, a place where wellbeing and ergonomics are the priority.
In what can be classed as a pioneer initiative within the Comunidad Valenciana, Grupo Repol together with the Castellón Institute of Architects (CTAC) launched nationwide a competition of ideas for the design of the new headquarters; out of the 20 projects received, the Jury awarded First Prize to the project presented under the slogan “Conquer the Sky”, from Alberto Sánchez López and Aina Salvà Tejedor from SMS Arquitectos (Palma de Mallorca, Spain). On choosing the winning project particular attention has been paid to wellbeing at every work station be it in the production area or the offices. The use of innovative construction materials and expansion possibilities were also basic criteria taken into consideration.

A Dinalon® 20% carbon fibre reinforced PA66 has been choosen by specialist producer of plastic injected footwear soles Aceplast (Navarra, Spain) for their latest premium cycling footwear soles. Being able to combine maximum rigidity together with minimum material weight was decisive in Aceplast’s choice, since rigidity is a basic aspect to consider with cycling footwear soles. The shoe sole must not bend when worn and pressure must disperse homogeneously throughout and not only in a limited area. Maximum rigidity should ideally be combined to minimum weight since, the lighter the footwear, the less weight the cyclist needs to carry. Compared to glass fibre, carbon fibre reinforcement allows for less density with the same tensile modulus. This translates into formulations with high dimensional stability, more aesthetic parts due to less fibre floating on the surface and more rigidity in thin walls. Because of its necessity for high rigidity and low weight, the interior of cycling footwear soles represents an ideal application for the development of carbon fibre reinforced parts.

Grupo Repol will exhibit at NPE 2006. Among the polyamides (PA6, PA66, PA6/PA66) produced by Grupo Repol under the brand Dinalon®, special emphasis will be at NPE on Dinalon® flame retardant PAs halogen and phosphorous free, whose formulation allows for compounds with good mechanical properties in a wide range of colours, from natural or white to intense colour tones. NPE 2006 will take place from June 19 to 23 at Chicago’s McCormick Place exposition center. Situated in the heart of North America’s $400-billion/year plastics marketplace, NPE will provide access to technologies, business opportunities, and decision- makers from all of the world’s industrial regions.

Grupo Repol signed a distribution agreement with Japanese Industrial Group Toray for the distribution of PPS Torelina® in Spain and Portugal. Toray’s Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) Resin Torelina® is a high-performance engineering plastic that boasts excellent heat resistance, flame retardancy, chemical resistance and physical strength, with a superb fluidity that leads to outstanding dimensional precision, characteristics that make it ideal for a wide range of applications including switches, connectors and other electronic and electric components, alternator parts and other automotive components including chassis parts and housings. Torelina® PPS is available in both cross-link and linear types.

Grupo Repol participates in Equiplast – International Plastic and Rubber Exhibition, that will take place November, 14-18 in Barcelona at the Gran Vía M2 Venue of Fira de Barcelona. Grupo Repol will also be offering engineering plastics from Kolon Industries Inc. and the Sabic PP and PPcompound range of products for the automotive market, for which the company is the exclusive distributor in Spain.

Grupo Repol signed a distribution agreement with SABIC Europe for the distribution in Spain of SABIC PP and PPC range of products for the automotive market. With more than 20 years experience in production and development, SABIC Europe supplies polypropylene-based materials to the automotive market for exterior, interior and under the bonnet applications, being one of the leading European producers of materials for highly demanding applications.

Grupo Repol has employed a new business management system, Albireo-QSMS. The new system, at the first implementation stage at the moment, allows remote access and operation, also for Grupo Repol's worldwide collaborators. At a later stage, client will have access to orders, product info, technical data, etc. Albireo-QSMS has been customized in line with prior system's philosophy, which was developed in-house.
